Becky G Previews New Music From Upcoming Spanish Project at LA Show

Becky G

Your girl, Becky G, turned up the heat in her hometown, Los Angeles. Becky performed during an intimate show at the iHeartRadio Theater during iHeartRadio Mi Musica with Becky G presented JC Penny.

After becoming the yellow Power Ranger last year, Becky has been getting back on her music game in 2017, and released a few Latin singles, including her most recent hit, "Mayores" featuring Bad Bunny. The song has topped the charts in countries including Spain, EcuadorPeru, Costa Rica, and El Salvador, AND the "Mayores" music video just recently surpassed Taylor Swift's "Look What You Made Me Do" in YouTube views.

During her intimate LA show, Becky treated all her Beasters to a preview of her upcoming Spanish project (which she revealed is coming out next year!), by performing several unreleased songs from the record. She described one of these songs, "Espada," as a "really special song for [her]," while another song, "Tiempo," is based on a situation from a past relationship. She explained of the track, "It's about a time where I was with someone who didn't know what they had until it was gone. And then, he saw me with a new man, and he was like 'hey, girl what's up?' And I was like, 'Oh no! We cool, but not that cool.'"

Becky also performed a few of her hits, including "Mayores," "Can't Stop Dancing," "Todo Cambio" and more, in addition to another new banger of a song called "Loco Por Mi."

In the middle of her show, Becky slowed things down a bit and sang three songs during an acoustic portion of the performance. She told the crowd, "This is where we get really vibe-y, really moody." She sang tracks including "Mayores" and an unreleased song called "Think of Me." She explained of the latter, "It's one song that's straight out of the diaries. True story, actually. Really sad." Becky also performed a gorgeous cover of Amy Winehouse's version of "Will You Still Love Me Tomorrow."

Becky also confirmed that her Spanish project will be released next year. The actress/singer has never released a full-length album, but the 20-year-old says that fans will be very happy next year. She told host Enrique Santos:

"That word, 'album,' has been following me around since since I got signed, like a long time ago. And my Beasters are like, 'Oh that question again? Hm, she's gonna say soon. And then soon means a long time.' But the truth is, I've been working on my Spanish project for some time now, and it means so much to me, and next year it will be out for the fans! It is something that is so close to my heart because everyone knows I started singing music in English, and when I started recording my project in Spanish, I felt like I really found myself as an artist."

She added, "I found my sexy Latina. It's so true. I found my sexy, I found, just this confidence, this security that I didn't have as an artist. I kind of wasn't happy. I was OK, but I wasn't there yet. I felt like I had to try other things to see what I like and don't like. And when I found this, I fell in love."

Becky also spoke about "Mayores," and all of its success. She told fans, "The internet changed my life. I got signed at 14 for the cover that I made on YouTube, for the true Beasters, y'all know wassup. And to see a number like that on one of my videos, just, is beyond me. More than anything I feel blessed. I just feel so lucky to have been able to have this revival of my artistry and it be accepted by what I consider family. It's everything to me. It's everything. So, 'Mayores' is very special to me."

Just recently, Becky helped to honor Gloria Estefan during this year's Kennedy Center Honors by performing "Mi Tierra." She revealed what the emotional moment was really like:

"Do you know what a responsibility that is? The biggest. Seeing her out there in the crowd, you guys will be able to see the performance very soon, I was very emotional because it's just such an honor. She's done so much for the Latin community and she represents so much. I mean, there's a lot of powerful Latina women in the music industry, but there's not enough of us. So, to see someone like her, who, through so many decades ... she represents so much. It was incredible."
