Imagine Dragons Raise $2 Million at Tyler Robinson Foundation Gala

Imagine Dragons may be a Grammy winning band, but if you asked its members they'd probably tell you the greatest award they've won is the platform to launch some important foundations. Vocalist Dan Reynolds recently spoke about his LoveLoud festivalwhich was conceived in 2017 to help raise awareness of the struggles Mormon LGBTQ teens and young adults face. In its second year, the event raised $1 million to an array of LGBTQ charities.

On Friday night (September 14), the band hosted its fifth annual Tyler Robinson Foundation Rise Up Gala in Las Vegas' Palace Ballroom at Caesars Palace to help benefit those suffering from pediatric cancer and their families. According to the Las Vegas Journal-Review, the event raised a record breaking $2 million — nearly doubling last year's donations, bringing the grand total to $6.5 million.

The Tyler Robinson Foundation was named after a very special fan from Provo, Utah who found solace and inspiration in the band's music, especially the song "It's Time." Tyler Robinson died in 2013 from a brain tumor. He was 17 years old.

“Tyler touched me very deeply,” Reynolds said during the event. “I have struggled with my religion, my faith, but tonight I feel he is here with us.”

The gala was hosted by comedian Joel McHale and ended with an intimate performance from Imagine Dragons, ending with a very fitting cover: Bill Withers' "Lean on Me."
