Victim Injured In Nipsey Hussle Shooting Arrested For Gang Ties To Rapper

One of the men injured during the shooting at Nipsey Hussleā€™s clothing store has been arrested for associating with the late rapper, TMZ reports

Kerry Lathan, the 56-year-old man who was shot in the back outside Nipsey's Marathon Clothing store, was reportedly taken into custody just days after the March 31 shooting for hanging with Nipsey, who police allege was a member of the Rollin 60ā€™s Crips.

Authorities claim Kerry, who was out on parole after serving 20 years for murder, is not supposed to be mingling with known gang members under a limitation of his parole. Kerry is being held at a downtown LA jail where he will remain until authorities try to revoke his parole. Due to the shooting, he is now in a wheelchair, unable to walk.

Nipsey was reportedly at his Marathon Clothing store on March 31 because he was helping Kerry get new clothes "so he could look good before meeting up with his own family and friends later in the day," a source told TMZ days after the incident.

The insider added, Nipsey, who was known for his generosity, "didn't notify his team or his primary security guard he'd be going to the store" alone because it was a spur of the moment thing ā€” his team didn't even know he'd left his house.

The 33-year-old rapper, Kerry, and Kerry's nephew were reportedly standing outside Nipsey's clothing store when suspect Eric Holder approached them. The 29-year-old alleged murderer is said to have had multiple conversations with the men, returning multiple times, before "purposely and repeatedly" firing at them, injuring two of them and killing Nipsey.

The suspected gunman has since pleaded not guilty to one count of murder, two counts of attempted murder, and one count of possession of a firearm by a felon.
