Parents Who 'Pranked' Kids On YouTube Sentenced To Five Years Probation

(BuzzFeed News) The Maryland couple behind the viral YouTube "prank" channel DaddyOFive was sentenced Monday (9/11) to five years probation on charges of child neglect.

Michael and Heather Martin were charged with two counts each of child neglect after their "kids prank" videos sparked outrage and allegations of child abuse. Psychological evaluations found two of the children, 10-year-old Cody and 11-year-old Emma, suffered "mental injury" as a result of the videos, Lindy Angel, according to the Frederick County Assistant State's Attorney.

The Martins entered Alford pleas — a special kind of guilty plea which means while they are not necessarily admitting what they did was legally wrong, they agreed the state has enough evidence to prove guilt going forward.
