Lake Calhoun Name Officially Changed to Bde Maka Ska

Lake Calhoun in Uptown, Minneapolis, has been officially renamed Bde Maka Ska (beh-DAY mah-KAH skah) after the Minnesota Department of Natural Resources approved the vote to rename it when local citizens pointed out Vice President John C. Calhoun, whom the lake was named after, had a "problematic historical record, which included fierce opposition to the end of slavery and support of white supremacy."
