Inside The Abandoned Valley View Mall In North Dallas

I have a thing for abandoned places (I once attempted to sneak into the abandoned Six Flags in New Orleans, which was left to rot after Hurricane Katrina hit in 2005), so when I went to AMC Valley View to catch a Friday night showing of Pet Semetary, I was ecstatic walking through the halls of what once was a bustling mall in North Dallas.

Originally developed in 1973, Valley View Center flourished and expanded in the 1980s until it encountered financial difficulties in the 1990s. Popular stores like Bloomingdale's, Macy's, Dillards and JC Penny all closed their doors by 2013. The mall site was slated to begin demolition in December 2016; however, plans have been indefinitely stalled due to ongoing legal conflicts, zoning and the loss of public sector incentives from the City of Dallas.

In July 2017, the longest running Sears closed its location, which makes AMC Theatres the last remaining anchor.
