Serious Pizza Is Gearing Up To Reopen With A Major Facelift

After closing earlier this year for renovations and then being forced to stay closed because of COVID-19 restrictions, Serious Pizza is getting ready for its grand reopening.

The Deep Ellum pizza shop will show off a major facelift. Since opening in 2011, the shop gave off hole-in-the-wall, dive-bar vibes with limited seating. The walls were covered in art and music would be blaring well into the night.

Now, the pizza joint will be able to hold many more customers at once and will offer an "eclectic" experience, according to owner Mike Turley.

Turley told the Dallas Observer, "When we opened up the doors, we didn't expect such a huge following off the bat. When we started, we only had like 40 seats and not a lot of room for people to get in there. Now we have like 200 seats."

Restaurant operations are now run by Milkshake Concepts and Turley said he has high hopes that they will take the restaurant to new levels.

A live DJ will play on Friday and Saturday nights and there will now be a "floor captain" to greet customers and make sure they're having a good time.

The restaurant's website states that Serious Pizza will be reopening this winter.
