March 2021 will mark two years since Billie Eilish released her Grammy-winning debut album, When We All Fall Asleep, Where Do We Go?, and she's been working hard on the follow-up.
In the iHeartRadio Jingle Ball Mercedes-Benz Interview Lounge during the iHeartRadio Jingle Ball presented by Capital One, the “Therefore I Am” singer revealed some new details about her sophomore release and it's getting us so excited to hear it.
Since Eilish wasn't able to tour this year due to the COVID-19 pandemic, she's used her free time to work on the album with her brother Finneas and it turns out, they are so close to finishing it!
“It's definitely 50% done,” she told JoJo Wright. “I am so in love with it.”
With it being halfway finished, Eilish couldn't give us an exact release date but dished that fans can expect to hear it in the near future and hinted that we won't have to wait too long for new music. While she said it's not a case of "sooner than you think” where it will be dropping immediately, the new album is “not far away.”
The singer also explained that her upcoming album has tracks that are from personal experience instead of being based on fictional characters as she's done in the past.
“This album is, like, very not made up. It's real stuff that's going on in my brain, but I'm very excited and it's all very different,” she said. “It's been so natural and easy and fun and satisfying… I feel so much more confident in my writing and in my singing and just as a human being.”
In case you missed anything, or you just want to relive this year’s iHeartRadio Jingle Ball presented by Capital One, The CW will broadcast the event as an exclusive TV special on Monday, December 14th at 8pm ET/PT.
