Several Big Lots locations will permanently shutter this year following the chain's decision to file for Chapter 11 Bankruptcy in September 2024.

According to USA Today, the beloved discount retailer revealed that they will be closing most of their locations in 2025 amid launching "going out of business" sales across the country. Over 400 stores have already closed their doors for good since January 1 with hundreds more to follow.

Big Lots CEO Bruce Thorn revealed why the company made the decision to launch nationwide "going out of business" sales in a press release.

"We all have worked extremely hard and have taken every step to complete a going concern sale. While we remain hopeful that we can close an alternative going concern transaction, in order to protect the value of the Big Lots estate, we have made the difficult decision to begin the GOB process."

The following Texas locations will offer "going out of business" sales within the next couple of days:

Information regarding how long the sales will proceed, and exact dates the stores preparing to close will shutter, were not revealed as the country prepares for the near termination of a well-known retailer that's been around since the 1960s.
